These scores are voiced for treble choirs in three or four parts. The famous Ave Maria setting that was misattributed to Jacques Arcadelt is based upon his chanson Nous Voyons que les Hommes. Pierre-Louis Dietsch transposed the piece and added a bass line in the mid-19th Century and replaced the original French text with the Ave Maria text.
These pieces were either originally composed for male choirs or have been transposed to fit the range for most young male singers.
